Tanzania Exclusive SafariDay 01 : Arusha

Your first day you will arrive at Kilimanjaro Airport, where you will be met by the warm, Smiling face of your private driver. He will transport you to Rivertrees, where you may have a light snack before settling in for the night. Let the sounds of Africa lull you to sleep as you dream of your upcoming adventures!

Day 02 - 0 4 : Katavi National Park

Water Buffalo in Katavi National ParkAfter your wonderful African breakfast, you will catch a flight to Katavi National Park. Unexplored and utterly remote, the floodplains of Katavi are home to heavy concentrations of game. Katavi has a wild, almost primeval feel, which hits you intensely from the moment you first see the game scattered over the Katisunga flood plain, as you approach by air.

Herds of buffalo - two or three thousand strong - graze on the plains; pods of several hundred hippo cram the seasonal rivers; herds of elephant feed on the plains and drink from the springs. There is little to no infrastructure in the park, and, consequently, a palpable sense of freedom in the air. Here one can explore the untouched wilderness, by foot, at animal pace, or off-road by Land Rover, throughout the day, discovering the most hidden areas of the park, without ever seeing another soul. Most days begin with early morning game drives and delicious bush breakfasts out on the plains.

The game is unbelievable with sightings of elephant, lion, leopard, cheetah, crocodiles and hippo amongst many others. Returning to camp, you will settle in around the campfire, before a full dinner in the mess tent, and enjoy the sounds of the African night.

Day 05 - 08 : Lake Tanganyika

Chimpanzee in Mahale MountainsA spectacular 50-minute flight will take you from Katavi to Mahale. Situated on the edge of the crystal waters of Lake Tanganyika, Mahale is a sublime blend of beach and bush.

The camp is small and beautifully built with large, pale, walk-in tents set in the shade of date palms on the shore of the lake.

The Mahale Mountains provide the ideal backdrop for the chimpanzee living here. Chimp trekking begins in the mornings. Guests leave the camp either on foot or by boat, depending on the location of the animals. The camp has a forty-foot hardwood dhow, built on the lake, used for gentle sails in the evenings, snorkeling among the brightly colored endemic cichlids or simply enjoying the breathtaking scenery. There is also the opportunity to observe leopard, bushbuck, bushpig, and a multitude of birds and butterflies.

Day 09 - 11 : Serengeti National Park

This day you will pack up after breakfast, say your good-byes, and begin your drive into the Serengeti. The drive will take you through Olduvai Gorge where you can stop and visit the famous Leakey anthropological site and enjoy a picnic lunch under the shade of a huge acacia tree before continuing into the Serengeti.

The Serengeti holds the greatest and most diverse concentration of wildlife remaining in Africa today. This place is guaranteed to take your breath away! Serengeti Safari Camp is set on the edge of the plains, which at certain times of year, plays host to the wildebeest migration and birthing, indisputably one of the greatest wildlife spectacles anywhere on earth!

There are great walking opportunities and game drives, which offer the best chance to sample close-up animal action.

Day 12 - 13 : Ngorongoro Crater

Today, you will drive to the Ngorongoro Highlands, stopping en route to have a picnic lunch. Once you arrive at the splendid Ngorongoro Crater Lodge, you may enjoy a nice swim or a refreshing sun downer and a short evening stroll with your guide.

The Lodge is one of the most splendid examples of African architecture coupled with a European baroque style, making it quite unique! On your first full day, you will begin with a very early start - rising earlier than everyone else as you escape camp in semi-darkness and start winding your way down towards the crater floor with your guide.

As the first few vehicles arrive on the Crater floor, your guide will find a lovely, secluded and shaded area to unpack a gourmet picnic brunch. After brunch, head back up to the lodge for a swim and a short siesta before dinner. Another day in Africa - what could be better?

Day 14 - 17 : Mnemba Island - Zanzibar

This day you will drive back to Arusha to board your flight to Zanzibar. Then transfer to the beautiful Mnemba Island with pristine white beaches and spectacular coral reefs.

Comprises just 10 rustic palm-frond bandas with en suite bathrooms and private verandas nestling in a tropical beach forest fringed by a soft white coral-sand beach. A protection zone surrounds the island, conserving magnificent coral reefs where giant turtles, ghost crabs and spectacular tropical fish drift through the lagoons.

Feedback From Clients

Chanice and Richardson Roberts

Davies I just wanted to let you know that we had a wonderful time! John was an excellent driver and guide. As you may have heard my husband became ill overnight and had to contact the physician on call at the Norfolk Hotel. I am very thankful that we were staying there! The doctor arrived promptly checked Rich over and provided the necessary medication to correct the problem and we took off shortly thereafter. Thanks for providing us with another wonderful African experience!
