Elephant Herd in Serengeti National Park TanzaniaDay 01 : Serena Mountain Village

Welcome to Tanzania!On arrival at Kilimanjaro InterNational Airport you will be met and transferred to the Serena Mountain Village located not far from the airport.

Day 02 : Arusha - Lake Manyara National Park

Baboon in Lake Manyara National ParkAfter breakfast you will depart on safari driving via the town of Arusha and continuing onto the floor of the Great Rift Valley, then ascending to Kirurumu Tented Lodge. In the afternoon drive into Lake Manyara National Park for your first Game drive into Lake Manyara National Park for your first Game drive.

Although the Park covers an area of only 318sq km, its terrain is so diverse that its mammal and bird list are some of the most impressive in Tanzania. As to wildlife, the Park offers abundant sightings of; monkey, jackal, mongoose, hyena, hyrax, zebra, hippo, warthog, buffalo, Maasai giraffe, duiker, waterbuck and impala. Significant numbers of elephant are also resident in the Park.

Day 02 : Lake Manyara - Serengeti Nat. Park

Lion at Waterhole in Serengeti National ParkAfter breakfast drive to the famous Serengeti arriving in time for lunch. Your lodge is set high on the saddle of tree-clad ridge commanding panoramic views over the endlessly rolling reaches and volcanic reefs of the Serengeti, the Serengeti Serena Lodge is the ultimate fusion of traditional African architecture and world-class style.

You will enjoy morning and afternoon Game drives in the vast and sensational Serengeti, covering 14,763 sq km of endlessly rolling savannah plains, is Tanzania’s first – established, largest and most famous Park wherein tens of thousands of hoofed animals roam in a constant and unremitting search for the fresh grasslands upon which their survival depends.

The million-plus wildebeest are the predominant herbivore and also the main prey of a huge cast of large carnivores, principally lion and hyena. The Park is also renowned for its lion and atonally for its wealth of cheetah, zebra, giraffe, Thomson’s and Grant’s gazelle, eland, impala, klipspringer, hippo and wrath.

Day 03 : Serengeti National Park

A full Day spent in the magnificent Serengeti with morning and afternoon Game drives. You will also have the opportunity to take the most unique safari of them all – the hot air balloon safari. Life in the Serengeti is a complex and dynamic ecological system in which all the animals and plants interact both with each other and with their environment.

No organism is static or exists in isolation and all are dependant on the rains. Finally, the Serengeti, whose Maasai name ‘Siringet’ translates as ‘the endless plains,’ offers unparalleled ornithological opportunities and an unrivalled natural arena wherein the glory and harmony of nature can be appreciated as nowhere else on earth.

Day 04 : Serengeti - Ngorongoro Nat. Park

After Breakfast, drive towards the Ngorongoro conservation area with a stop over at Olduvai Gorge. The Olduvai Gorge or Oldupai Gorge is commonly referred to as “The cradle of Mankind.” It is a steep-sided ravine in the Great Rift Valley, which stretches along Eastern Africa.

Olduvai is in the eastern Serengeti plains in Northern Tanzania and is about 30 miles long. The gorge is named after the Maasai word for the wild sisal plant sansevieria ehrenbergii, commonly known as Oldupaai. The afternoon will be at leisure enjoying the magnificent views – (optional walk at crater rim or visit Maasai Village at an extra cost).

Day 05 : Ngorongoro Game Reserve

After an early breakfast drive through the mist and descend into the Ngorongoro Crater. Quite apart from the ‘big five’ (lion, elephant, rhino, leopard and buffalo), all of whom can often be spotted in a morning, the Crater also hosts up to 25,000 large mammals.

Most are grazers, of which zebra and wildebeest comprise almost half, the rest being gazelle, buffalo, eland, hartebeest and warthog. As a result of these extraordinarily large number of herbivores, the crater also numbers one of the densest predator populations in Africa, most of which are lion and spotted hyena. Finally, the crater supports a large elephant population. In the afternoon ascend the Crater wall and return to the Lodge.

Day 06 : Ngorongoro - Amboseli

After breakfast drive to Arusha arriving in time for lunch at the Impala Hotel. Then continue to the Kenya - Tanzania boarder arriving at approximately 1500hrs - 1530hrs. Cross into Kenya and drive to Amboseli National Park arriving at Tortilis Camp after a short Game drive.

Tortilis Camp is located on the edge of this National Park. The Camp won the British Airways regional award for ecotourism and has earned an interNational reputation for its commitment to the environment with its rustic simplicity, unobtrusive design and attention to comfort without compromising the ecosystem. The tents are large, the emphasis is on service and comfort.

Each tents leads from a bedroom with expansive king-size or generous twin beds, through a dressing area into modern bathroom with pressured hot showers and flush toilets. Each tent is raised up on a wooden deck and sheltered by a makuti (thatched) roof overhanging a large veranda, ideal for any early afternoon siesta

Day 07 : Amboseli National Park

A full Day with morning and afternoon Game drives in Amboseli a fairly small National Park (392 sq. km) yet so rich in both flora and fauna. The Amboseli ecosystem is typical of the open savannah grassland habitats of Eastern Africa, featuring open wooded grasslands, rolling hills and swamplands whilst the presence of Mount Kilimanjaro creates a unique selection of ecosystems found nowhere else on earth. Over 53 species of herbivores and carnivores can be viewed with ease, the most conspicuous being the troops of over one thousand elephant who range the plans and wallow the swamps. A number of other unique animals also populate the area including lion, cheetah, giraffes, zebras, buffalo, rhino, wildebeest, gerenuks and impalas.

Day 08 : Amboseli - Lake Nakuru Nat. Park

After breakfast you transfer to the airstrip for your flight to Nairobi. On arrival met and drive along the wall of the great Rift Valley. You should have spectacular views. You will descend onto the crater floor and continue to Lake Nakuru National Park. Enjoy an afternoon of Game viewing in this Game rich area. Begin your Day with a wildlife drive around Lake Nakuru.

The shallow alkaline lake is frequently the feeding ground for vast numbers of Lesser and Greater Flamingo. Also found are many thousands of water birds including: White Pelican, Greater Palaearctic shorebirds on spring and autumn passage. In the yellow barked acacias around the lake, Red-chested Cuckoo, Didric cuckoo, Bearded Woodpecker, and Mariqua Sunbird are all found.

In addition to birdlife the Park supports larger animal life. Reedbuck and waterbuck gather on the grasslands around the lake while baboons cavort on the rocky outcroppings. Nakuru has also been set up as a sanctuary for the black rhino.

Day 09 : Lake Nakuru - Maasai Mara

Spend the morning Game viewing in Lake Nakuru then drive to Lake Naivasha for your scheduled flight to the Maasai Maraon Safari Link ETD 1510hrs. You will fly over the Great Rift Valley before the Game filled plains signify your arrival in what is, undoubtedly, Kenya’s finest Game Reserve.

On arrival, transfer to Little Governors Luxury Camp. In the afternoon there will be a Game drive. Search for the ‘big five’ – elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard – the Mara is famous for these. Return to your Camp just after dark to enjoy cocktails around the Campfire.

Day 10 : Maasai MaraGame Reserve

A full Day spent in the Maasai Mara. An opportunity this morning to take the most unusual safari of them all – the hot air balloon safari! The balloon lifts off as the sun slowly rises and the flight can last up to an hour depending on wind conditions. Suspended in a basket beneath the rainbow-coloured canopy, you are off for a Game-viewing adventure with an entirely different perspective.

The thing that amazes most first-time balloonists is the absolute stillness, the silence as you float above the celebrated with a champagne breakfast served out on the plains and then a Game drive back to Camp. The intermittent rolling hills, vast grassy plains and riverine forest means no two Game drives are the same. In the late morning visit a Maasai Manyatta, (homestead), where you can witness how these unique and proud people live.

Day 11 : Maasai Mara- Nairobi - Mombasa

Time for one final early morning Game drive this morning before you fly back to Nairobi on Safari Link Aviation ETD 1100hrs. On arrival at 1215 hrs, Transfer to Jomo Kenyatta InterNational Airport for your flight to Mombasa for your beach holiDay extension.

All private charter flights are subject to weight limits that can not be exceeded for safety reasons. If these weight limits are exceeded then the travelers will be held responsible for the extra costs incurred to upgrade the charter flight.

Sometimes these flights cannot be upgraded due to all charter planes being booked - this could result in a delay in travel time and pose problems for the travelers. Your luggage weight should not exceed 33 lbs. per traveler. Please advise us on the weight for your travel.

Most charter flights are booked on single engine aircraft. In the event of bad weather prevailing, it may be necessary to upgrade to a twin engine plane which is approved for instrument flight conditions. If this occurs, the extra cost of the twin engine plane will be your responsibility.
