Zebras in MalawiThis safari explores the best of Zambia and Malawi on an eight day safari. Two of the regions' finest wildlife parks are combined with the shores of Lake Malawi to offer a superb wildlife, scenic and cultural experience in one of Africa's friendliest and least spoiled regions.

The combination of aerial viewing, open 4x4 vehicle game drives, foot safaris and boating provides guests with an enriching and varied experience.Accommodation is in premium tented camps or hotels.

Days 01 - 03 : Lilongwe

Lions Enjoing the Sun in LuangwaOn arrival at Lilongwe Airport (Malawi) you transfer to your charter aircraft for the 50 minute flight westwards to South Luangwa National Park in Zambia.

After landing at Mfuwe, you are driven to the camp of your choice. Camps you can choose from on this safari are Tena Tena - Robin Pope Safaris, Tafika Kaingo, Nkwali or Kapani.

The next three nights are spent enjoying the wildlife of the Luangwa in open 4x4 safari vehicles by day and night, as well as on walking safaris.

All the camps are between four and nine rooms - so they offer personal service and flexibility. Wildlife highlights in the Luangwa include all the big game - Elephants, Lion, Buffalo, and in particular, Leopard.

Days 04 - 05 : Liwonde National Park

Crodile In Liwonde National ParkWe transfer back to Mfuwe for the charter flight back to Malawi, and then fly onto Liwonde National Park, one of the most scenic and diverse game parks around. The park straddles the Shire River, the main drainage outlet for Lake Malawi.

The attractive riverine forest, dominated by palm, is home to some of the best wildlife in the region - huge Crocodiles, countless pods of Hippo, Sable, Elephants and some4 of the best birding on the continent awaits visitors to this park.

Accommodation for the next two nights is at Mvuu Lodge a 10 bedded, comfortable tented camp situated on the banks of the Shire River. Activities center on wonderful game viewing and birding by boat, in open 4x4 vehicles, night drives and game walks.

Days 06 - 07 : Lake Malawi

Cape Maclear, Lake MalawiFrom Mvuu Lodge we travel by road or air to Livingstonia Beach Hotel - or further north to the more rustic Chinteche Inn. Both are situated on the shores of Lake Malawi. Your choice!

The lake around both areas is free of bilharzia and offers safe swimming in the clear waters of one of Africa's largest freshwater lakes. These two nights offer a fascinating contrast to the rest of the safari. Besides the beach and water sports activities, guests can visit traditional villages and learn about and enjoy rural African.

I think for someone like me, Botswana is really a great place to go - since I know I will go again and experience the other camps. But for people who are going only once in a lifetime, then I think I am inclined to suggest Kenya - you see it all at once and stay at one camp. I am so glad you convinced me to go to Botswana though - it really was a wonderful experience. I d...
