This room features a claw-foot tub and a fireplace. It faces out onto the garden, and has a wrought-iron four-poster double bed...a great room for honeymooners!

This room has a desert theme, and its earth tones and artifacts reflect the natural colors of North Africa and its people.

Makan is a Hindi name meaning "home"--this room was so named because it reflects the diversity of cultures found in Nairobi today. The headboard is draped with authentic Sari material from India. The room interconnects with the Kanini room next door, making it ideal for families.

Bustani is Kiswahili for "garden"--and this room has direct access to the beautiful gardens (see the photo albums!).

Pwani is Swahili for "coast", and this room is designed to give you a taste of island life in the heart of Nairobi. It faces the garden, has a small balcony, and double-height ceilings.

Kanini means "small" in Meru, and with its twin beds is great for families-- interconnecting with the Kanini room.

This rooms is so named for the animal prints decorating the walls. In Swahili, "safari" means journey, and has become synonymous with the Kenyan tourist experience, which must include game drives in Kenya's amazing wildlife parks.

Tembo is the Swahili word for elephant. As you probably know, elephants were hunted mercilessly for their ivory in the latter part of the 20th century--this room pays tribute to this noble animal with its ivory, cream and brown tones.

Just wanted to let you know that Lorena and I had a fantastic time on our safari! Some of the people we met were staying at just one camp, but we were glad we had two separate camps. And they were so different from each other. The climate and vegetation at Porini was totally different than at Kicheche, making each camp wonderful in its own right. At Porini I awoke both nights because there were giraffes and gazelles right outside our tent. Believe me, I gladly gave up a sound night's sleep for that experience! One of the best times was when we walked to the Maasai village. It was just Barbara, me, and our Maasai guide, being guarded by four young, handsome Maasai warriors.
